Expanding its managed software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) portfolio, Aryaka said it had introduced a cost-effective regional tier with as-a-service offerings that allow businesses to pay for only the network as they consume. Delivered via the company’s SmartConnect platform, the additional as-a-service offerings include network and application acceleration, multicloud networking, managed security and actionable insights.

Moving beyond its SmartConnect offering that delivers connectivity-as-a-service, Aryaka has introduced four additional as-a-service offerings that include network and application acceleration, multi-cloud networking, managed security and actionable insights.

Cloud security and compliance specialist Threat Stack this week rolled out a new, comprehensive partner program for resellers, services providers and, in particular, MSSPs looking to augment their current security workflows and SIEMs with cloud-native tools to monitor host, container and application-layer activity in cloud environments.

In a move to differentiate itself from the increasingly crowded SD-WAN pack, Aryaka today announced it was breaking out its SD-WAN platform into a range of smart services.

According to David Ginsburg, VP of product and solutions marketing at Aryaka, the move will give customers greater flexibility.

Aryaka has expanded its suite of managed SD-WAN offerings, and announced its SD-WAN will be available for regional deployments starting early next year.

Aryaka offers its SmartConnect technology as a managed, global SD-WAN service, but now it has added four new as-a-service offerings to its newly branded SmartServices platform. With the SmartServices platform, Aryaka is looking to differentiate itself from the « do-it-yourself » (DIY) SD-WAN offerings from vendors such as VMware as well as the ones offered by service providers through partnerships with vendors such as Cisco.

Aryaka Networks and other privately held companies are among the startups to watch offering the software-defined networks, say Wall Street analysts. Count on them to be acquired or launch IPOs. Cisco rival Arista Networks (ANET) is among potential buyers. Other startups include Nuage Networks, Fatpipe Networks and Cato Networks.

The latest IHS Markit report on the SD-WAN market found that VMware, Cisco, and Aryaka continued to dominate the space, though there was a shakeup outside the top three. Overall, the research firm observed a 23% sequential increase in appliances and control and management software sales.

When I was a network engineer for a VAR, I had the edge router thing solved. It didn’t take me any time to get a device up and running and working the way the customer wanted it to be done. On the other hand, dealing with the local provider for network access was a different story. I could probably write a book about all the crazy things I had to deal with when I was on hold with the local telco or when I was lost in the process of the large providers just hoping that someone remembered to schedule techs to be on-site this week.
