Extending Your Cloud Reach with a Managed WAN Service

Extending Your Cloud Reach with a Managed WAN Service

This year has seen its fair share of unexpected and unprecedented events. It added layers of uncertainty and complexity to our private and professional lives. Yet, one trend has not only held steady but accelerated. The use of Multi-Cloud by companies of all sizes has seen a steady rise in adoption and shows no indication of slowing down any time soon. In a recently released report titled The Future of Multi-Cloud Networking 2020, analyst firm Futuriom talks about how the great cloud wave, describing the shift of IT applications to multiple and hybrid clouds, creates demand for new multi-cloud networking solutions that can unify networking infrastructure among clouds. The report lays out the following areas companies need to solve:

  • Compliance and security
  • Integrated networking approach
  • Operational visibility, compliance, and security
  • Connecting distributed applications
  • Improving security operation including firewalls
  • Driving network integration
  • Workflow and operational visibility
  • Consistent policy implementation

I will not go in the details of each area in this article, as they should sound familiar if you are in the market for enterprise networking and multi-cloud networking solutions. For more details, I encourage you to download a free copy of the report. Almost everyone wants multi-cloud, but anyone who has gone through the trouble of setting up a single cloud, let alone multiple, knows the challenges that come with tying them together. Why not leverage the expertise of an experienced WAN provider to unify all the networking elements under a single pane of glass? Simply consume the network and benefit from a worry-free service, eliminating the complexity making the various elements all work together by yourself, including the complexity of multi-cloud networking.

An Integrated Platform Consumed as-a-Service

Aryaka’s approach is based on its Cloud-First WAN architecture delivered as a managed service. Aryaka’s meshed Layer 2 Service PoPs (Points-of-Presence) converge underlay and overlay network and security services, delivering high-availability and uptime with the industry’s most comprehensive end-to-end service level agreement (SLA). This integrated platform offers agility, simplicity, and great experience in consuming the WAN-as-a-service. The Aryaka SmartServices platform combines an optimized global network and innovative technology stack for connectivity, application acceleration, security, cloud networking, and insights leveraging global orchestration and provisioning. Aryaka’s customers include hundreds of global enterprises, including several in the Fortune 100. Let’s look at a customer example of how Aryaka addresses multi-cloud networking as part of its WAN service.

Addressing Multi-Cloud WAN Complexity

Consider a typical multinational with numerous branch and plant locations, as well as connectivity into multiple public clouds.  Aryaka has multiple customers that fit this description across many verticals but detailing one in the logistics space should prove the point.  The company in question has over 175 global locations.  Edge locations connect to different data centers and then via cloud exchanges or the Aryaka backbone to multiple cloud providers, in this case AWS and Azure.  The goal was not only to provide multi-cloud access within a region but between regions as well. Considerations included throughput, latency, and resiliency.

To address these requirements, the company sought a unified network architecture across their business locations to deliver traditional and cloud-based services for a range of SaaS applications and IaaS connections. Business needs dictated a cost-effective, cloud-based architecture to deploy applications across a secure global network and extend the reach to cloud services, even where Aryaka has no dedicated Edge Services PoP or Points-of-Presence. In this case, the customer connected to AWS in Ireland via Aryaka’s PoP in London.  Aryaka’s Cloud Services Extensions, part of Aryaka SmartCloud, our multi-cloud networking as-a-service offering, make it fast, easy, and seamless to connect to leading cloud providers in such a case.

Extended Reach with Cloud Services Extensions

By leveraging Aryaka’s Cloud Services Extensions, customers can reach leading public cloud providers locations across several availability zones while benefiting from Aryaka’s single point of contact service.

Cloud Services Extensions serves as a multiplier to reach more clouds in all regions while still benefiting from standardized management, operational simplicity for networking and security, and full visibility and reporting. This is all backed up by a comprehensive set of SLAs for end-to-end coverage from Last Mile, Middle Mile to Edge and Cloud Service, and global 24×7 support.

While how the rest of 2020 will turn out may remain uncertain, one thing is not: Multi-Cloud use will continue to rise and with it the need for a multi-cloud networking solution. Aryaka’s solution with a Cloud-First WAN allows the customer to consume the network as a service, with multi-cloud networking integrated into the service. Aryaka SmartServices eliminate the cumbersome process of implementing, operating, and troubleshooting aspects of a WAN, thereby reducing operational complexity. It frees up time usually spent managing day-to-day tasks and allows customers to focus on what is beyond 2020.
